402 A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Autologous vs Titanium Cranioplasty Implants

Abstract Aim: There is currently no gold standard reconstructive material for cranioplasty, with autologous and numerous synthetic materials in use. The emerging role of titanium due to its strength biocompatibility has made it a good option. Titanium been compared studies bone cranioplasty however there meta-analysis within the literature guide craniofacial surgeons on optimal method. Method A systematic review was performed as per PRISMA guidelines search electronic information conducted identify all randomised control trials observational comparing implants vs. following craniectomy. Re-operation rates cosmesis were primary outcome measures incidence complications such resorption infection secondary measures. Results Six (n = 1909) identified. Autologous using had higher re-operation rate (p > 0.007), reabsorption seen this group. significant difference between two groups cosmetic outcome. Both comparable 0.18) costs involved. Conclusions offer lower based reconstruction without significantly increasing adverse outcomes post-operative or cost.
